2" Wheel Spacer Install on 07 Honda Recon

Ever since I put the High Lifter 2" lift kit on the Recon, I was a little concerned about the wheel base being narrowed so it may have taken me some time but I finally did something about it. It ordered the Factory Spec FS-201 2" wheel spacers from Amazon. The spacers arrived Friday and I couldn't wait to install them. After installation the quad feels a lot more stable in turns. Check out the install video below and subscribe to my YouTube channel to see more videos.

Deer Season 2015 Part 2

Deer Season Part 2
Thursday morning I got into my stand after a little detour and got comfortable for waiting to see what the morning had in store for me. It was just about daylight when a small doe and a couple of buck moved in about 60 yards to the west. I watched them hoover up acorns for about 45 minutes and then moved on to the north east. it was fun to watch them and made for a more interesting morning than not seeing anything. About 10:30am I decided to head back to the house to warm up and get a bite to eat. The afternoon hunt, I walked down to the stand about 1:30pm. I sat without seeing much until about 3pm, 3 does and a buck moved in from the south west. The sun was setting making it hard to make out a lot of detail. Slowly they started to move my way. The lead doe moved to my north west and when she moved behind a tree I positioned to get a look at her in my scope. When she came out from behind the tree she must have spotted the change in my position because she locked in on me. I could see her vitals but there was some brush in the way and I wanted a nice clear shot. I waited for her to make another step and clear the lane for the possibility of a clean quartering toward shot. I squeezed of the round and send the 12 gauge Hornaday slug down range and she wheeled around to run. I noticed a dark area back on her left flank and I initially thought I might have hit her far back. As I watched her run I thought it was a gut shot but within a few strides her body became lower and she ran into a small tree stopping her momentum and my decision to try a second shot not necessary. She keep moving south west and disappeared behind a tree and that was the last I saw of her until I walk to where I last saw her. She maybe went 20 yards on the other side of the tree and was done. The shot entered high on her right should, took out both lungs, liver and exited her left flank. With this my 2015 deer season was done. I had a great season and we will have a lot of venison in the freezer this winter.

Deer Season 2015 Part 1

I had some luck on the first day of Illinois Shotgun Deer Season. I saw several deer that morning but nothing really close enough for a clear shot. At around 10:30 am I came to the conclusion that my stand was not in the correct position, so I decided to move it by myself. The stand is a very good quality ladder stand with thick square tubing. When you add all three ladder sections, there is no way one person can lift it up to the tree. I decided what I would do would be to unstrap it from the tree and balance it on end in it's entirety from the tree I was on to the tree I needed to be 75 yards away. This was some under taking with low hanging limbs and large limbs littering the ground between here and there. I got the stand moved and climbed back into it around 11:20 am. I was exhausted and hot in the 55 degree heat wearing way too much clothes for that kind of labor. At 11:40 am a nice buck stepped out about 60 yards to my west. I seen him walk into the brush but when he stopped all I saw was his backside. I waited for him to step out from behind the tree that was covering his vitals. He turned west and slowly walked away with the tree blocking any kind of a shot. I grunted and snort wheezed to see if I could get him to turn around but it didn't work. I thought "That's the last I see of him." 20 minutes later a noise to my right and behind me caught my attending and it was him. He had tried to circle behind me and get down wind, Luckily I caught him slipping in at 85 yards and dropped him in his tracks.

I called him bruiser because his right ear was split all the way to the ear bud. You will be seeing him in several months mounted on the wall.

The four wheeler got used this weekend to haul my deer and Uncle Carl's doe out of the woods.
I had a very good season so far. I will have to fill my doe tag in the second season.
