Deer Season 2013 Part 1
Friday morning we got up at 5 am and headed down to the farm. I got to my stand around 6:30 a and crawled up for the morning sit. About 10 minutes after I got there I had a couple of deer move in on me about 40 yards east of me. I was still getting settled in so I got caught moving around. The deer saw me and turned and went back the way they came. I noticed a couple of deer moving on the property across the ditch and heading south. I did see a nice buck again on the other side of the ditch move north about 60 yards from me in the brush but a minute or two later there were shots in that direction. Another buck moved behind my stand around 4pm that day but I didn't get a good look at him. By the time I got back to the farm I had set a little over 10 hours. Saturday morning the wind was howling and only got worse as the day went on. I did see one little spike buck moving south across the ditch. Sunday the morning was bitterly cold at 14 degrees but the wind had diminished. We thought the deer would be up and moving but by the lack of shooting around the area I think the deer decided to sleep in. I managed to harvest a doe moving across the ditch at 7 am. That was it for the first shotgun deer season. I hope to see more deer moving through the area in the second season.
